Firestation 5 Steam Pumper IPA

Firestation 5 Steam Pumper IPA is brewed in Portland, Oregon or Olympia, Washington by what I have found alternatively identified as MacTarnahans and Pyramid, both MacTarnahan's and Pyramid Brewing are part of North American Breweries as well as that it is part of Fish Brewing in Olympia, Washington.  I tend to believe that this beer, which may also be brewed specifically for a grocery store chain was previously brewed in Portland and more recently been made in Olympia, which I think I remember it saying on the bottle.  I first tried Steam Pumper IPA in Seattle in December 2011.

Blue Paddle is brewed by New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins, Colorado.  I first tried Blue Paddle in 2002 while living in Fort Collins, Colorado.  Of the many times I have tried Blue Paddle, the first time was probably at Old Chicago and most recently it has been several years but I tried it at the brewery in Fort Collins, which I used to frequent relatively often.

Guinness Draught

Guinness Draught is brewed in Dublin, Ireland as part of Diageo.  I first tried Guinness Draught in early 2002, while living in Fort Collins, Colorado.  Guinness Draught comes in both bottles and cans and both versions have had a widget that helped create the Guinness head but the bottle version has now been redesigned to not need the widget.  I have had Guinness Draught in all three formats, bottle, can and poured from a tap, though the first version I tried was from the bottle.

Portland Beer Again

Last October, I first visited Portland and what is referred to as Beervana and I shared my experiences visiting several breweries at that time.  While visiting Portland, primarily to see my friend, who was visiting since she had artwork accepted in the Bullseye Emerge 2012 competition, I was also able to visit a few more breweries.  I began the trip by visiting Clackamas because a movie theater was there that showed what we were wanting to see.  Prior to the movie I ate at the Ram Brewery, where I had a Buttface Amber Ale and their spring seasonal.
Though the Ram Brewery isn't specific to Portland, I still wanted to share as that was the beginning of my time there.  Later that Thursday night I visited Ringlers Pub, which is part of the McMenamis's stable of brewing outlets.  There, I had a sampler of their beers and a special version of their Ruby Ale that was on tap that night.
On Friday, I was able to visit the Laurelwood Public House and Brewery.  I tried their sampler, which consisted of their regular beers and I was able to select one of their seasonal brews as part of the sampler.  Later that evening, I visited Henry's Tavern in part of the old Henry Weinhard brewery in the Brewery Blocks portion of the Pearl District.

On Saturday I went to the Bridgeport Brewing, which is part of the Gambrinus Company and had lunch and their beer sampler, which consisted of 8 samples.  Later that evening following the award ceremony at Emerge 2012, we went to the Rogue Distillery and Public House, where the biggest decision of the weekend  had to be made.  I had to choose 4 beers to try in their sampler from their tap list of about 30 beers.  Upon finishing the sampler, my friend and I shared a Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale.

Churchkey Pilsner

Churchkey Pilsner Style Beer is brewed by Two Beers Brewing in Seattle for Churchkey Can Co.  I first found Churchkey Pilsner at PCC in West Seattle this afternoon.  It is especially interesting because the flat top steel cans must be opened by an old churchkey style can opener rather than a pop top.  I know I have these around the house, now mostly on the end of one appendage of a can opener or what not but I thought it was mighty thoughtful for them to include a churchkey can opener with the 6-pack!!!  According to the link above, I found and tried this beer one week prior to its supposed debut of April 15, which is why I haven't found a Beer Advocate review yet.  I will say though, "It's worth the effort!"

Here is a RateBeer review.

Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale

Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale is brewed by Rogue Ales in Oregon.  I first came across the Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale in October of 2011 when I first visited Portland, Oregon.  I didn't have it until last night though, when I was at the Rogue Distillery and Public House with my friend Cortney.  As it turned out, it was the only beer that I had that wasn't a sample as part of a brewery sampler on National Beer Day.  The Bacon Maple Ale is based on the maple bacon bar from Voodoo Doughnut in Portland, which was famous on its own prior to being highlighted in 2009 by Man v. Food.  Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale is also the perfect beer to have on National Donut Day, June 1 for the beer drinker!
